For the sixth consecutive season, the Penguins wore adidas ADIZERO jerseys - a style and cut that was introduced at the beginning of the 2017-18 NHL season - and continued wearing adidas' Primegreen technology for a second consecutive season. The style was designed to take the hockey uniform and jersey silhouette to the next level by redefining the fit, feel, and construction of the jersey. The jerseys feature unique cresting materials and construction technology, adidas Clima® technology to deliver breathability and enhanced performance, and a series of high-performance materials containing a minimum of 50% recycled content.
On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, the Penguins announced a multi-year agreement with Highmark that would feature the Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield logo on the chest of the Penguins' home (black) jersey, third jerseys and reverse retro jerseys beginning with the 2022-23 National Hockey League season. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield logos were embroidered above the Highmark logo onto a black twill swatch that was sewn to the jerseys. The patch was sewn on the right chest on the home (black) and reverse retro jerseys and the left chest on the third jerseys.
The adidas logo is featured on the back neckline with a white logo embroidered onto black twill on the Home (black) jerseys and a black logo embroidered onto white twill on the Road (white) jerseys. A black and light gray Primegreen tag was sewn on the back right hem which wrapped to the inside of the jersey and featured the adidas website - ADIDAS.COM/SUSTAINABILITY. The inside neckline of each jersey features "Made in Canada" in three languages (English, French and Spanish), the adidas logo, and the jersey's numerical size in three languages screened on. Below the markings inside the neckline is the Primegreen logo screened onto a black piece of material on the Home (black), Third and Reverse Retro jerseys and a white piece of material on the Road (white) jerseys. Inside the left side seam is a manufacturer's washing instructions tag.
Jerseys were lettered and numbered by Pro Knitwear of Pittsburgh, PA.
