The Penguins wore Reebok Edge (Air-Knit) jerseys - a style and cut that was introduced at the beginning of the 2007-08 NHL season - for the fourth consecutive season. The Penguins wore two different Alternate jerseys - the light blue style which was introduced at the 2008 Winter Classic was worn for the fourth consecutive season and the other navy blue style was introduced at the 2011 Winter Classic and was patterned after the team's inaugural season jerseys' color scheme.
The Reebok vector logo was featured on the back neckline with a white vector logo embroidered with black on the Home (black) jerseys, a black vector logo embroidered with white on the Road (white) jerseys, a navy blue vector logo embroidered with white on the light blue Alternate jerseys, and a silver vector logo embroidered with navy blue on the Winter Classic Alternate jerseys. The inside neckline of each jersey features a size tag with a Canadian flag logo above the "Made in Canada" in three languages (English, French and Spanish) then the 7187 manufacturer's model number indicating the 2.0 Edge model with an "A" or "H" after the model number. Inside the left side seam is a manufacturer's washing instructions tag.

All jerseys except for the 2011 Winter Classic and Vintage Set featured the 2010-2011 CONSOL Energy Center Inaugural Season patch on the right shoulder to commemorate the opening of the Penguins' new home building. The circular banner background was black on the Home (black) and Road (white) jerseys and navy blue on the Alternate jerseys.
J&J Distributing of Ellwood City, PA purchased all sets of game worn regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs sets directly from the Pittsburgh Penguins and marketed the jerseys to the hobby.

The set continued throughout the the regular season including being worn in a road game on October 30, 2010 at Carolina and was last worn on March 27, 2011 vs. Florida. Each individual jersey within the set was worn as allocated by the Pittsburgh Penguins and each jersey should be researched individually to determine exactly when each jersey was worn. The set of Alternate jerseys were sold by the Pittsburgh Penguins to J&J Distributing.

On November 10, 2010 in a 7-4 loss to the Boston Bruins at CONSOL Energy Center, the Penguins wore a special set of Home (black) jerseys to benefit The Mario Lemieux Foundation for the Wounded Warrior Project, a national organization to help injured servicemen and women. A special set tag was sewn inside the back hem of each jersey. The jerseys featured the 2010-2011 CONSOL Energy Center Inaugural Season patch on the right shoulder. The jerseys were auctioned online at mariolemieux.org and proceeds were used to support the Foundation's plans for an Austin's Playroom at the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

On December 31, 2010, the Pittsburgh Penguins held practice at Heinz Field, home of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers, in preparation for the 2011 Winter Classic game. A total of 23 players participated in practice with 12 players wearing gold practice jerseys and 11 players wearing black practice jerseys. The jerseys featured the circular logo crest with the scarfed Penguin logo from the team's inaugural season in 1967-68 on the front in addition to the 2011 Winter Classic patch on the right chest and the Reebok vector logo patch on the left chest.

On January 1, 2011, the Pittsburgh Penguins faced the Washington Capitals at Heinz Field, home of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers, in the 2011 Winter Classic game. The Capitals defeated the Penguins, 3-1, in front of 68,111 fans. The Penguins' navy blue jerseys were patterned after the team's inaugural season sweaters and featured the circular logo crest with the scarfed Penguin logo from the team's inaugural season in 1967-68 on the front. The 2011 NHL Winter Classic patch was sewn on the right chest.
A total of 23 jerseys were prepared for use during the pre-game warm-up and each individual period - a total of four sets of jerseys. A total of 23 players participated in the team photo shoot which took place on Friday, December 31st presumably wearing their warm-up set of jerseys. A total of 20 players dressed for the game and every skater played at least one shift in every period while back-up goalie Brent Johnson did not see any playing time.
A selection of first period set jerseys were made available for bidding at NHL Auctions while the second period jerseys were sold by the Pittsburgh Penguins to J&J Distributing.

On April 5, 2011, the Penguins wore a special set of jerseys that were given to fans at the conclusion of the game vs. New Jersey at CONSOL Energy Center. The Penguins wore their Home (black) jerseys for this game and they were tagged with a special "Shirt Off Your Back" set tag inside the back hem. Deryk Engelland, Dustin Jeffrey, Mike Comrie, Matt Cooke, Eric Tangradi, and Eric Godard were scratched for the game. Sidney Crosby was injured earlier in the season and a jersey was prepared for him to give away after the game.

The Penguins began wearing their Stanley Cup Playoffs jerseys with the start of the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs on April 13, 2011 vs. Tampa Bay. The set continued throughout the first first round of the Playoffs until the team was eliminated on April 27, 2011 vs. Tampa Bay. The Home (black) jerseys were worn in a total of four games while the Road (white) jerseys were worn in a total of three games. Research on each individual jersey should be conducted to determine exactly when each jersey was worn. The Road (white) set of jerseys were sold by the Pittsburgh Penguins to J&J Distributing. The Home (black) set of jerseys were given to the players.
