In July 1992, less than two months after winning the franchise's second consecutive Stanley Cup championship, team president Howard Baldwin announced that the Pittsburgh Penguins would have a new logo for the 1992-93 season. For the sixth consecutive season, the Penguins wore Ultrafil jerseys manufactured by CCM. The Home (white) jerseys featured the winged-Penguin crest on the front with pointed shoulder accents. The Road (black) jerseys featured PITTSBURGH diagonally across the front and the new winged-Penguin crest on each shoulder.
As part of the 100th anniversary of the Stanley Cup being awarded for the first time in 1893, Pittsburgh wore the Stanley Cup 100th anniversary patch on the right chest of their Home (white) jerseys. Due to PITTSBURGH being diagonally sewn across the front of the Road (black) jerseys, the Captain's "C" and Alternate Captain's "A's" on the left chest, and Penguin logos on each shoulder, there was no room to apply the Stanley Cup 100th anniversary patch.
The CCM logo was embroidered on the back right hemline to the left of the National Hockey League shield logo. The inside neckline of each jersey featured the Maska Ultrafil manufacturer's tag with a small size tag sewn next to it.

The Penguins began wearing Set 1 jerseys with the start of the 1992-93 pre-season on September 18, 1992 at Edmonton. During the pre-season, evidence suggests that the Penguins only wore their Home (white) jerseys as they are confirmed to have been worn on the road at Calgary and at Hartford and in a neutral site game at Tacoma, Washington vs. Los Angeles. The set continued into the regular season and was worn until January 31, 1993 at Washington. The Home (white) jerseys were worn in a total of 32 games while the Road (black) jerseys were worn in a total of 26 games. Each individual jersey within the set was worn as allocated by the Pittsburgh Penguins and each jersey should be researched individually to determine exactly when each jersey was worn. Set 1 jerseys were sold by the Pittsburgh Penguins to Byron's Hockeyland.

The Penguins began wearing Set 3 jerseys with the start of the 1993 Stanley Cup Playoffs on April 18, 1993 vs. New Jersey in Game 1. The set continued throughout the remainder of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and was recycled for use in the 1993-94 pre-season. The Home (white) jerseys were worn in a total of seven games while the Road (black) jerseys were worn in a total of five games during the 1993 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
