For the fourth year in a row, the Penguins wore jerseys from a different manufacturer - this time Cooper mesh. The Cooper logo was embroidered on the back right hemline and straddled the yellow and black hem stripes. Opposite the Cooper logo was the CENTURY SPORTS lettering logo local company who heat-pressed the numbers and names onto the jerseys. The inside neckline of each jersey featured the three mmanufacturer's tags including the Cooper / Made in Canada / model # tag over top of the size tag and to the left a red maple leaf logo'd "APPROVED" tag.
The Penguins began wearing Set 1 jerseys with the start of the 1985-86 regular season on October 10, 1985 vs. Montreal. The set continued throughout the regular season and was worn through the 1986-87 pre-season. The Home (white) jerseys were worn in a total of 40 games while the Road (black) jerseys were worn in a total of 40 games. Each individual jersey within the set was worn as allocated by the Pittsburgh Penguins and each jersey should be researched individually to determine exactly when each jersey was worn.
