The thin accent stripes remained navy blue. The skating penguin crest was the same as 1972-73 which featured a disproportionate golden triangle behind the skating penguin. The lace-up collars were still present with laces threaded through the eyelets and solid navy blue necklines.

The Penguins began wearing Set 1 jerseys with the start of the 1973-74 regular season on October 12, 1973 at Atlanta. The set was worn throughout the regular season and was worn until April 7, 1974 at Atlanta. The Home (white) jerseys were worn in a total of 39 games while the Road (blue) jerseys were worn in a total of 39 games. Each individual jersey within the set was worn as allocated by the Pittsburgh Penguins and each jersey should be researched individually to determine exactly when each jersey was worn.
