2006-07:

 

2007-08: Strong two-way center played all 82 games as a 19-year-old and averaged 18:16 of ice time in key role for division and conference champions...Kept improving as season went on; scored seven of last nine goals on road, with four of them being game-winners...Finished regular season with 28 points (12+16)...Tied for third on team in game-winning goals (4), behind Malone and Malkin...Had season-high three points, including game-winning goal, Jan. 10 vs. Tampa Bay (2+1). PLAYOFFS: Chipped in six goals during playoffs, including game-winner in Game 2 of conference semifinals against NY Rangers...Scored two goals in third period of Game 4 of conference finals at Philadelphia...Had a goal in three of the final four games of Philadelphia series...

Became the youngest player in NHL history to play in his 200th game Dec. 30 vs. Boston at 20 years, 111 days (Patrick Marleau - 20 years, 115 days)...Key member of team's penalty kill unit, pacing Penguin forwards (and second most on team) with 3:31 shorthanded minutes per game...Posted his second career hat trick and set a new single-game high in points (4) with three goals and an assist Nov. 11 at Detroit, scored all three goals in the third period, including game-tying goal with 22.8 seconds left in regulation, and then assisted on Ruslan Fedotenko's game-winning overtime goal...Tallied his 100th career point (assist) Feb. 11 vs. San Jose...Scored his 50th career goal Dec. 6 at Ottawa...Notched his 50th career assist March 15 vs. Boston...

PLAYOFFS: 20-year old notched nine playoff points (4+5) in 24 games and scored critical goals in Games 4 and 6 of Stanley Cup Finals to help team win its third Stanley Cup in franchise history...In Game 4 against Detroit, tallied a gigantic shorthanded goal to swing momentum to the Penguins...Was paired against opposing team's top forward combinations throughout the postseason; held Philadelphia sniper Jeff Carter to one goal in six-game opening-round series and brother Eric to one goal in Eastern Conference Finals as penguins bested Carolina...
