2005-06: Tallied 40 points (16+24) in 47 games for the Penguins...Thrived once he was put on Sidney Crosby's right wing...Crosby set up nine of Armstrong's 16 goals, while eight of Armstrong's 24 assists were on Crosby tallies...Closed the season with points in four-straight games (3+5)...Led the Penguins with a +15 rating and was fourth among NHL rookies...Ranked 10th among all NHL players and fourth among NHL rookies in shooting percentage (18.6%)...Ranked tied for fourth among rookies in +/-, tied for fifth with two short-handed goals and tied for ninth with three game-winning goals.

 

2006-07: Played 80 games in his first full NHL season and tallied 34 points (12+22)...All 12 of his goals were scored when the game was tied or the Penguins trailed...Scored three overtime goals tying a Penguins season record shared by Jaromir Jagr (1998-99), Aleksey Morozov (2003-04), Ryan Malone (2003-04), and Sidney Crosby (2005-06)...A top penalty killer that led the club in shorthanded time on ice.
